845 Spirit Community Page

Many of our "845" clients and community members might not know that I (Kimberly) am a Christian, a follower of Christ Jesus! As 845 Transportation & 845 Ride serve our clients and community with transportation services; I also choose to offer a spirit filled blog. This blog will be filled with devotionals, stories, music videos or maybe just a short quote or scripture to bring joy to your day.

When I created this blog on my business website, I had the vision of bringing my faith to life within my business. Although I still wish to integrate my faith into the site and my business; I feel like I am being led in a different direction here. There is another "spirit" that fills 845. Small business. The small businesses within our community do create a special spirit that can make or break a community. We are all trying to save money where we can, buying from big box stores or online but we forget that our communities are full of mom and pop or brink and mortar stores, restaurants and service industries doing what they love while supporting themselves and their families. When you support small businesses in your community you are really supporting so much more. Besides supporting families and dreams you also support your local community by paying taxes within your own community. Yes, I know, none of us like that word (taxes) but I don't think they are going anywhere anytime soon. If we don't like or agree with what our tax dollars are being spent on, then that is a whole other topic for discussion. We do have the option of voting and getting more involved with the politics game, I know another bad word. Anyway, next time you need to make a purchase or use a service; think local first. God Bless! The Vision (Kimberly's Vision) To build a successful, woman and family owned & operated company that not only supports my family; but also, our employees (845's family) and their families. Then, together, we can support our local communities with the services they need at affordable prices.

Every once in a while, an ewe will give birth to a lamb and reject it. There are many reasons she may do this. If the lamb is returned to the ewe, the mother may even kick the poor animal away. Once a ewe rejects one of her lambs, she will never change her mind. These little lambs will hang their heads so low that it looks like something is wrong with their necks. Their spirit is broken. These lambs are called "bummer lambs." Unless the shepherd intervenes, that lamb will die, rejected and alone. So, do you know what the shepherd does? He brings the rejected lamb into his dwelling, feeds it by hand, and ensures its warmth near the fireplace. Wrapping it in blankets, he cradles it against his chest, allowing the lamb to sense his heartbeat. When the lamb gains sufficient strength, he reintegrates it into the field alongside the rest of the flock. But that sheep never forgets how the shepherd cared for him when his mother rejected him. When the shepherd calls for the flock, guess who runs to him first? That is right, the bummer sheep. He knows his voice intimately. It is not that the bummer lamb is loved more, it just knows intimately the one who loves it. It's not that it is loved more, it just believes it because it has experienced that love one on one. So many of us are bummer lambs, rejected and broken. But He is the good Shepherd. He cares for our every need and holds us close to His heart so we can hear His heartbeat. We may be broken but we are deeply loved by the Shepherd. ~ Author Unknown / Dawnings

Some are asking what the differences are between 845 Transportation and 845 Ride . 845 Transportation is the parent of 845 Ride . 845 Transportation was formed in 2017 and pretty much did everything you can imagine. Soon it was realized that there needed to be some separation of services in order to continue serving the community with excellence. 845 Ride was born!! 845 Ride utilizes smaller more compact, fuel-efficient vehicles to serve our local community. So, what does 845 Ride actually do? *** Non-emergency medical transportation through the New York Medicaid program which allows lower income individuals that have Medicaid to use such a service to get back and forth to their medical appointments, and some similar services at no cost to them. 845 Ride has a contract with NY State to provide such services. There are some rules and regulations as with any government program. You may contact Medical Answering Services for more information on signing up for these services. *** Local car service (taxi) to the community at the most affordable prices possible. We utilize clean, safe vehicles with safe and friendly drivers. Most of our clients are repeat customers who actually become our friends. We serve a large portion of older individuals that have difficulty getting out, they no longer drive; but they also want to get out into the world once in a while. We are always willing to take you to the grocery store, pharmacy, a cup of coffee or just a ride around town. *** Need a quick delivery from the store, pharmacy, restaurant? Give 845 a call and set it all up. We do ask that you call ahead to make a reservation if possible. Although we seem to be a taxi service we are not. We are a car service that works primarily on reservations in order to serve our community with the best possible, on time services. You are welcome to call for a trip for NOW, but unfortunately, we cannot guarantee availability. “Happiness is a way of travel, not a destination. Enjoy the ride.” – Anonymous

Finding Hope and New Beginnings When Life Doesn't Go as Planned Joyce Meyer (this devotional taken from Joyce Meyer Ministries website ) This is the day which the Lord has brought about; we will rejoice and be glad in it. I have always been a planner. I’m a goal-oriented person, so I like to have a plan and then check things off my list. However, over the years, I’ve learned an important lesson—life doesn’t always go as planned! Whether it’s a little plan or a big plan—your daily schedule or your career strategy—it can be disappointing if everything doesn’t work out the way you had hoped. And many people fall apart when their plan falls apart. There was a time when I would let today’s disappointments ruin tomorrow. I would blow up at Dave and say things I regretted, then spend four days feeling guilty and condemned because of my behavior. Or there have been times when I have missed opportunities and was sure I messed up God’s plan for good. Little by little, God helped me to change my attitude about these disappointments. Instead of focusing on what has been lost, God helped me to focus on the good things He can do in the future. Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV) says, The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning…. It’s no coincidence that our time is divided into 24-hour increments. God gives us new opportunities each and every morning to start fresh! It’s a chance to begin again—to try again, hope again and watch Him do something we never expected. You see, God is a God of restoration and change—He is always doing a new thing and working behind the scenes in our lives to bring about new beginnings. Where we see failure, God sees potential for something new. The minute we stumble and come apart, God is already planning our comeback. When we mess up “Plan A,” we don’t have to worry—God has a “Plan B!” Maybe Plan A for you represents a missed opportunity, a painful past or a relationship that didn’t work out. Or maybe you feel like you made a mistake and there’s no chance that things will turn around. If so, I want you to take a moment and think about this scripture. Jeremiah 29:11(NIV) says, For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Regardless of what happened yesterday, last week or last year, God has a great plan for your life—a plan for you to succeed and experience the peace and joy that Jesus died to give you. This means when Plan A falls apart, you don’t have to be afraid. God has you in the palm of His hands, and He’s already been working on Plan B (see Isaiah 49:13). Instead of staring at the past, He wants you to look through the eyes of faith and get excited about the future! In fact, I’ve discovered that God’s Plan B is often better than Plan A could have ever been. Even when someone else or an unforeseen circumstance affects our lives, God promises to take the negative things that happen and use it for our good (see Romans 8:28). In Joel 2:25-26, God says, “I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten…(NIV).” And in Isaiah 61:7 (NIV), He tells us, Instead of your former shame, you will receive a double portion.... With God, no one can ever truly take anything away from you. If you will trust Him, He can take a bad situation and make it up to you. For instance, as a young adult, I was convinced that being abused as a child had marred me for good. I felt like I could never be like everyone else or have the life I could have had. But all things are possible with God! When we see dead ends, He sees new beginnings. He wants to take the pain of our past and not only heal it, but He wants to restore to us more than we would have had in the first place! When we’re in the middle of a bad day or disappointing moment, it’s so tempting to give in to thoughts like, It’s over. It’s too late. But it isn’t too late! It’s never too late to have a fresh start when you have life in Christ. Tomorrow is a new day! It’s a new opportunity to finish that project, mend a relationship, get back to your exercise routine. I encourage you to look at each day as a chance to start again. When you wake up, declare things like, “This is the day the Lord has made—I will rejoice and be glad in it!” (See Psalm 118:24.) God is the God of do-overs, second chances and new beginnings. And if you’ll let Him, He will give you a fresh start, and it will be better than you can imagine.
